چکیده: 

اشکال مختلف فرسایش و فرآیندهای دامنه ای که تخلیه مواد حاصل از فرسایش دامنه ها را به عهده دارند، یکی از مسایل مهم زیست محیطی ایران است. برای کنترل یا کاهش آثار تخریبی آنها باید عوامل موثر بر این فرآیندها ارزیابی شود. به منظور شناخت این عوامل در این مطالعه، ابتدا با استفاده از عکس های هوایی، نقشه های توپوگرافی و مشاهده های زمینی، اشکال فرسایش و فرآیندهای دامنه ای موجود در منطقه شامل فرسایش شیاری، سولیفلوکسیون، خزش، لغزش، ریزش و فرسایش کنار رودخانه ای شناسایی و تعیین حدود گردید. سپس ویژگی های هر یک از این اشکال و فرآیندها از نظر نوع سازند، توپوگرافی، تراکم زهکشی و عوامل اقلیمی به تفکیک، اندازه گیری و محاسبه شد. جهت تعیین روابط بین اشکال فرسایش مشاهده شده در منطقه و پارامترهای محاسبه شده و همچنین شناخت مهم ترین عوامل موثر در ایجاد آنها، از تحلیل های آماری رگرسیون چند متغیره استفاده گردید. نتایج حاصله، بیانگر آن است که متغیرهای: نوع سازند، ارتفاع، بارش و شیب منطقه، نقش بیشتری در تحول و تنوع اشکال مختلف فرسایش و فرآیندهای دامنه ای داشته اند.

Statement of Problem: Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory immunologic-based disease involving skin and mucosa. This disease is generally divided into two categories: EROSIVE and non-EROSIVE. Many etiologic factors are deliberated regarding the disease; however, the disorders of immune system and the role of cytotoxic T-lymphocytes and monocytes are more highlighted. Zinc is an imperative element for the growth of epithelium and its deficiency induces the cytotoxic activity of T-helper2 cells which seems to be associated with lichen planus.Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the levels of serum zinc in EROSIVE and nonEROSIVE oral lichen planus (OLP) and compares it with the healthy control group to find out any feasible inference.Materials and Method: A total of 22 patients with EROSIVE oral lichen planus, 22 patients with non EROSIVE OLP and 44 healthy individuals as the control group were recruited in this descriptive-comparative study. All the participants were selected from the referees to the department of oral medicine, school of dentistry, Tabriz University of medical sciences. Serum zinc level was examined for all the individuals with liquid-stat kit (Beckman Instruments Inc., Carlsbad, CA). Data were analyzed by adopting the ANOVA and Tukey tests through SPSS 16 statistical software.Results: The mean age of patients with EROSIVE and non-EROSIVE LP was 41.7 and 41.3 years, respectively. The mean age of the healthy control group was 34.4 years. The mean serum zinc levels in the EROSIVE and non EROSIVE lichen planus groups and control groups were 8.3 (1.15), 11.15 (0.92) and 15.74 (1.75) mg/dl respectively. The difference was statistically significant (p<0.05).Conclusion: The serum zinc levels were decreased in patients with EROSIVE oral lichen planus. This finding may probably indicate the promising role of zinc in development of oral lichen planus.

Background: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a relativelycommon, chronicinflammatory condition, which is considered a precancerous lesion. The Ki-67 antigen is expressed in all the phases of the cellular cycle in proliferative cells. Different studies have suggested the relationship between incidences of malignancy in precancerous lesions and the occurrence of this protein.Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate Ki-67 expression in EROSIVE and non-EROSIVE oral lichen planus.Materials and Methods: Specimens (formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded) of 30 lesions of EROSIVE OLP and 30 lesions of nonEROSIVE OLP were referred for immunehistochemistry (IHC) analysis of Ki-67. Results of immunohistochemistry were statistically evaluated by means of the chi-square test and independent t-test. The level of statistical significance was established at P<0.05.Results: The mean expression of Ki-67 in patients with EROSIVE OLP was higher than people in the control group. These differences were statistically significant (P=0.041).Conclusions: Since Ki-67 is extensively accepted as an important biomarker in diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of cancerous and precancerous lesions, a high degree of presence of this biomarker in chronic precancerous lesions, such as EROSIVE OLP, can be of great use in prognosis and suggested treatments.

Statement of the Problem: Oral lichen planus is a common mucocutaneous lesion with a chronic inflammatory process mediated by immune factors while a few cases of the disease become malignant. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the frequency of p53 marker as a tumor suppressor in patients with EROSIVE and non-EROSIVE oral lichen planus (OLP) by using immunohistochemical methods. Materials and Method: This descriptive cross-sectional study investigated the p53 expression in 16 EROSIVE OLP, 16 non-EROSIVE OLP samples, and 8 samples of normal oral mucosa through immunohistochemistry. The percentage of stained cells in basal and suprabasal layers, and inflammatory infiltrate were graded according to the degree of staining; if 0%, <10%, 10-25%, and >50% of the cells were stained, they were considered as (-), (+), (++), (+++) and (++++), respectively. The obtained data was statistically analyzed and compared by using Chi square and Fisher’ s exact test. Results: The mean percentage of p53 positive cells in EROSIVE OLP (34. 5± 14. 2) was considerably higher than that in non-EROSIVE OLP (23. 8± 10. 4) and normal mucosa (17. 5± 17). There was a significant difference among the three groups of EROSIVE, nonEROSIVE and control in terms of staining intensity. No significant difference existed between the patients’ age and sex in the two OLP groups. Conclusion: The increased incidence of p53 from normal mucosa to EROSIVE OLP indicated the difference between biological behavior of EROSIVE and non-EROSIVE OLP. It can be claimed that the EROSIVE OLP has great premalignant potential compared with the non-EROSIVE one.

Block ramps are hydraulic structures which are commonly used in river restoration projects. Especially in the last few decades, the use of this type of structures have become more and more popular. They furnish a correct balance between the hydraulic functioning and the environmental care, as they minimize the impact on the environment in which they are located. In addition, they can be considered flexible structures, i.e. they can easily adapt to the in situ conditions and they can be easily built to re-convert traditional concrete structures. They can be built either by loose or fixed blocks, arranged on a sloped bed. However, a correct design of this structural typology has to take into consideration several aspects. In particular, the hydraulic functioning of a block ramp is assured when the structure remains stable, i.e. when the blocks are not removed from their original position. Thus, the first step in designing block ramps has to be the structural stability. Furthermore, the analysis has to focus also on the dissipative process occurring on them, in particular it has to consider the different flow regimes that can take place and the effect of the bed roughness on the energy dissipation. Another important aspect is the stilling basin design. In fact, a block ramp has not to be considered as an isolated element in the contest in which it is located. It is part of that contest and it contributes to modify it. Thus, it is extremely important to consider the scour process occurring downstream of the structure. In particular, the maximum scour depth and length have to be carefully estimated in order to avoid structural collapse of the ramp. The scour process occurring downstream of the structure is also extremely important in terms of energy dissipation. In fact, the global dissipative process is the result of two distinct PROCESSES: one occurring on the ramp and the other in the downstream stilling basin. Finally, the analysis has to take into consideration which are the global sediment transport conditions of the river in which the structure is located. Thus, it has to be conducted in both clear water and live-bed conditions. It appears evident that a correct design of this type of structures is a complex operation which requires a particular attention in order to avoid functioning problems.

چکیده: 

EROSIVE dermatitis is a skin reaction associated with implantable cardiac devices (ie، pacemakers and cardioverter defibrillators). We report a 65-year-old man with a history of several cerebrovascular attacks who developed an erythematous crusted EROSIVE patch over the pacemaker site after implantation of two subsequent pacemakers. We suggest that physical irritation may be a trigger factor for both pacemakers and changing the type of pacemaker is not important in some cases.
